History
Long Gully station - private land - was once one of the jewels in Wellington's Mt Bike trail network. Its riding history includes hosting the New Zealand MTB Cup Downhill. It hasn’t been used for MTB for nearly 15 years.
Discussions
Advocacy for our community is a key role for Trails Wellington. The station's new owners have been positive about exploring the redevelopment of this area for mountain biking. Trails Wellington and the owners are in discussions around what could be achieved, how it could work and the 'when' (in terms of timeframes).
A major part of the brief is to minimise any impact on the landowners' residence and privacy. We're working together to establish trails that our community would love and that we need. Our dream is to work with the landowner to reopen the area to mountain bikers.
Private land
Please continue to treat this land as strictly private while we work with the owners to create a suitable plan.
